God is in the Church Nursery!

First & Calvary Presbyterian Church values individuals of every age and seeks to support and nurture Christian discipleship throughout a lifetime!

W
e understand the unique needs of babies and parents and seek to provide families with opportunities to fully participate in worship, classes, choirs, and small groups. The nursery is a warm, loving, and happy place where infants and toddlers can safely explore their world and enjoy themselves. Our goal is to help each child gain a sense of significance and security as they are cared for in the nursery and enjoy their loving caregivers. Their positive experiences help form a strong foundation of trust and attachment that will become a basis of faith. Babies begin to associate God with enjoyable activities and experiences each week with loving caregivers who know them and respond warmly to their needs.

We are blessed to have a wonderful group of individuals who serve as caregivers in the nursery. All of these workers are required to complete a background check before working in the nursery.

Hours of Operation

Nursery care is available during on Sunday mornings (8:15 AM to 12:15 PM) and during the week for all church related activities. We do ask that you please pick up your children promptly when your activities are ended.

Registration and Use

It required that a Registration and Safety Information Form be on file for all children using our nursery. Guests and one-time visitors from out of town do not need to pre-register their children to place them in nursery care. Simply complete the sign-in sheet at the front desk.

Pick-Up

Only parents may pick up their child from the nursery, unless prior written permission is given to the nursery caregiver or coordinator. An alternate person (such as a grandparent or other family member) must be designated on the registration card. Older siblings (under age 18) may not be designated to pick up a child. When picking up your child, please do not enter the room, but allow the caregivers to pass your child over the gate. Please present your nametag or a photo ID in order to receive your child.

What to bring

  • Two or more disposable diapers (Diapers are checked during every service)

  • Baby Wipes

  • Pacifier or other comfort item

  • A change of clothes

  • A bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water

  • A snack (For the safety of other children, no snacks containing nuts are permitted. A list of approved snacks is available from the childcare coordinator.)

Please do not bring toys from home. We provide many different toys to entertain your child. We ask that you label all items you bring to the nursery, including the diaper bag, bottles, clothes, juice cups, and snacks.

Sick Policy

Please do not bring a sick child to the nursery. A sick child is defined as one with a fever, a persistent cough, diarrhea, mucous or redness of the eyes, runny nose, rash on face, trunk, or limbs, a communicable disease, or any vomiting. The child must be symptom and fever free for 24 hours before attending the nursery. The childcare coordinator and caregivers visually screen children for illness as they enter, and they may ask you about symptoms they observe. Please let the coordinator know if your pediatrician has confirmed your child has a condition such as asthma or an allergy that imitates symptoms of communicable diseases. Children can sometimes spike a fever or begin to exhibit illness symptoms without warning. Children who become ill while in the nursery are lovingly cared for in an isolated area until their parents can be alerted to come get them.
