Children's Worship Center

The Children's Worship Center provides one way for young children to experience worship. The Center is designed for 15-18 children. We are currently offering this experience to children who are four years old, as well as those who will enter Kindergarten the following year, and those entering Kindergarten during the current year (4 & 5 year olds & Kindergarten).

The ministry calls for a structured time with children based on an order for worship found in most Reformed and Presbyterian churches:

  • we approach God,
  • we proclaim God’s Word,
  • we give thanks to God, and
  • we go in God’s name.

This approach translates the religious language of Biblical stories, parables, and liturgy into concrete materials which leaders use to tell the stories, and the children use to retell the stories themselves. Children and adults are drawn into the stories together as they experience, rather than merely learn about, worship.

The Worship Center is located on the 2nd floor, just North of the Sanctuary in Room 225. We meet each Sunday from 11:00 AM to Noon, except in June, July and August. We begin each year with “Getting Ready” sessions, which include an introductory parent session, followed by two parent/child sessions from which to choose on consecutive Sundays, and three more sessions with just the children. The children learn that The Worship Center is a very special place to be with God. In this place we have all the time we need. We learn to walk more slowly and talk more softly because someone might be talking with God and we don’t want to disturb them.
